    celebrate halloween as a foreigner

Settling into a new country can be a tricky thing. There are so many ideas on how to adapt to your new environment successfully, but I believe it’s more of a personal choice. We moved from Romania to the UK more than six years ago and what struck me the most was how time seemed […]

I believe one of the biggest setbacks I had when I was thinking of starting a business in a foreign country was that… I wasn’t speaking the language. Well, at least not to perfection. I always had this inside of me, I wanted to speak the “music” within a foreign language, not just mimic it. […]

    ce sunt convingerile limitative

We all have them: thoughts, beliefs that are holding us back. That, instead of helping us evolve and improve, they are a hindrance. They are not helpful at all, yet we do believe in them, and, as far as I’ve noticed in all these years of being both a mum and an entrepreneur, most of […]

✨ Helping you add the spark to your Socials and reach a joyful content creation routine without losing yourself in the process. Courageously me ✌️

”I simply don't have time to post on Social Medi ”I simply don't have time to post on Social Media" – I think this is one of the main stumbling blocks we're facing when it comes to content creation, one which, sadly, we're coming with ourselves.
And look, I get it. I really do.

As a little life update, recently not only did my time shrink considerably, but I also ended up with some side projects that limit it even more (multi-talented people, hands up 😄).
So, where I maybe had 2-3 hours a week for Reels, carousels, blogs, and the like, now I don’t even have that anymore.

That’s where today’s post idea came from. Because honestly, truly, you DO have 15 minutes.
You definitely have them if you cut down the time you spend CONSUMING content. You have them if you close every other app (yes, this one included) whenever you open your laptop to focus solely on creating that post. You have them if you're mindful while walking your furry friend, and observe what’s around you. And so on.

Now, I like to deliver on my promises, so to make the most of these 15 minutes, here’s what I’d like you to do, right here, right now, as you're reading this:

– Take 5 minutes to open a notebook, or a Word document – whatever floats your boat, and reconnect with your audience. I want you to write down: “1 thing my people are currently facing”. For example: “My people are struggling with ideas for quick, nourishing, autumn-vibe meals.” + “1 thing I can do to help them solve this problem or lessen this burden.” For example: “I can help with 5 family-friendly, flavour-rich meal ideas under 20 minutes, easy to take to the office, inspired by my own kitchen.” That’s it.

- Then take 5 minutes of active writing. Set a timer. This is a fantastic exercise to sharpen your ability to estimate how long you realistically spend on this task.
See how long it takes to create a draft of the post you previously identified – try to stick to the 5 minutes. Don’t go into too much detail yet (you can do that later in stories).

- Lastly, take 5 minutes to choose a photo that fits the post and upload it to the app.
And that’s IT!
Kaboom!
Go ahead and do it and let me know how it went 😎

I’ll be reaaaally honest: I spent SO much time o I’ll be reaaaally honest: I spent SO much time on my phone in the last 12 months, that I think I forgot who I am. Literally.

Got so swept away by the whole “online business success” mirage, that I drifted off my authentic needs and wants and pleasures.

Now, it’s important to note that this is my job. I am a content strategist and a social media manager, I do spend time online more than the average people by default. However, it’s not the 4hrs/day I spend scrolling, engaging and creating for my clients that got me.

It’s the fact that I started reaching for my phone as a default. Like that’s how it’s supposed to be. Before I went to bed, as soon as I woke up, at the playground, when removing my makeup and so on 🙄.

You could say I was addicted and I wouldn’t blame you. You would be right.

So, I started being extremely mindful with my everyday life. That was a few months ago. I found it extremely liberating to switch off and this Summer, for the first time since opening my business, I took 3 full weeks off, only checking in with my audience for pure fun and out of a personal commitment I made to myself.

And you know what? I am aware of how ridiculous it sounds: the social media manager who wants to stay OFF Social Media. But it’s so important for me to be able to come here unbiased, with a clear understanding of how overwhelming being present online can become for a business owner.

I get it. I really do.

I am going through the same experience.

It’s why I can, with a clear conscience, tell you: you can absolutely unplug, you can totally keep personal things to yourself (social media, regardless of the “social” element in it, has never been a public canvas anyway), while also scaling your business, selling your offers and building sound relationships with your audience.

Sooo, (let me catch my breath for a minute 😅), yeah. I guess this is my public announcement that I’ll take it easier with being online for the time being.

No FOMO. No guilt.

Oh, I’m also writing a book, and I already noticed how much more creative I am since I skipped the daily “scrolling routine” 🤪.

That’s it. No CTA 😂
‘Hi, I’m Cristina, a digital content expert an ‘Hi, I’m Cristina, a digital content expert and I don’t know the latest trends & co on Social Media.’

‘Hi, Cristinaaaa’

No, jokes aside, I really don’t. My goal, ever since I opened my digital marketing in-house agency, has always been to teach healthy, sustainable practices that people can actually enjoy exploring.

The social media landscape is so, SO different from what it was a while back, and it changes at such a speed that you’d need to be a full-time employee at each and every platform to keep up with it.

Of course, I am up to date with the major shifts that might impact one’s entire communication strategy, but you won’t see me constantly checking for new releases, features, and templates because it’s just not how I choose to spend my energy. And that’s what works for ME!

It probably sounds weird to hear this from a digital content expert, but it is precisely for this reason that I choose to protect my creativity, so I don’t get lost in the tiny bits.

A huge, huge disclaimer though: I reached this point in my business after a big, hollow burnout, many exhausting nights, anger bursts, ADHD-related headaches, trips into “mum-guilt-land” & co.

So, yes, I might not be the person you ask for the latest Instagram updates, the coolest visual tricks for stories, or trendy audios for Reels. But I am your pal if you’re looking to grow your online audience through a content marketing approach that says “you” in all nooks and crannies. 🤘🏻

If you want to keep your hands busy with your favourite drinks, your children’s chubby little hands, or a pen for journaling instead of your phone.

If you want to enjoy posting while you get to do what you love the most.

It took me many, many months to reflect on this and finally reach an agreement. 😊

Sure, I could have been both, I still am at times, but only the latter lights me up. So I’ll follow the spark. And I hope you do too. 🤗

P.S.: the cove in the video is Watcombe Beach, in Torbay, my favourite place to be!

So, keep posting!

Keep writing those blog posts!
Keep talking about your personal interests on Social Media.
Don’t stop 💪🏻!

P.S.: obviously, there are moments when pausing and analyzing are required, and of course, always listen to your body. This is not an ad for hustling 😂

In content marketing, the principle of "small, per In content marketing, the principle of "small, perpetual actions" (yep, I just coined that) works wonders.

Please don’t get discouraged by “just a story” or “just a post every two days” or “just a newsletter” you create and publish online. You don't have to create an insane amount of posts to gain traction and get new eyes on your business.

➡️ A freebie you work on for 10 minutes a day, because that’s all the time you have, can bring you 5 new clients.

➡️ A series of social media posts on a trending topic can position you as an expert in your field and land you numerous appearances in traditional media.

➡️ A daily story keeps you close to your audience, making it much easier to guide them towards your paid programs when it’s time to launch an offer.

I ALWAYS prefer less-but-consistent when it comes to content creation, over once-a-month-and-then-good-riddance.

So, don't feel like you need to create more or have it all figured out, and just hit "publish" on that sourdough bread you baked last Sunday. Yes, it has nothing to do with your products, but it has everything to do with YOU & it helps strengthen that Consistency Muscle 💪.

We want to see the bread! Post it, post it, post iiit!

P.S.: yes, I have a thing for sourdough bread 😂
P.P.S.: if you don't know how to create a vibrant and enjoyable content calendar, please do get in touch!

You don’t have to make a weary face every time y You don’t have to make a weary face every time you create content for Social Media & other platforms, as to some kind of penitence. I promise there’s another way 🤭
And I say it in all honesty, as a professional who creates content for a living, BUT who hasn’t always been so enthusiastic when it came to this.
You must know about me that I am not at my first business, nor at my first attempt to be a social media manager & digital consultant.

In fact, it was around 2015 when I first had a Facebook account in my hands – other than my own, of course. That was my playground and I remember there were things I enjoyed – like writing texts – and things that gave me headaches – graphics & images.

Every time I had to schedule a post, I would go into a panic spiral.
“What if I made a grammar mistake?”
“What if nobody is going to reply?”
“What if noboy will get the joke?”

So what I suggest you do if the content creation part is nearly always the last on the list or you simply don’t like it, is to divide the whole process into smaller bits.

For example, what needs to happen so you can publish a blog post? What about a Reel? Or perhaps a carousel on Instagram? What steps do you need to take to see an idea turned into a published piece of content? 🤔

Then put your detective’s hat on and observe. Which one of these the steps gives you the least satisfaction?
By knowing this, you’ll then decide if you wish to:
- learn more about the process so you can do it easily,
- adjust the working environment, to make it more enoyable or
- completely delegate this task.

You see, the content creation process is complex, BUT it doesn’t have to be boring! We can make it fun again!

I have a cool reframing exercise that I’ll be sharing over the following days. Make sure to follow @sparkleupyourcontent to see the rest 🙌🏻

Posting daily on any Social Media platform can sur Posting daily on any Social Media platform can surely increase your following. It’s pure maths, really. The more eyes on your content, the more chances for those eyes to turn into followers (there’s a downside to this as well, a story for another time 😋).

BUT creating that much (valuable!) content daily, while also engaging with your audience and running your business, not to mention personal life, can get exhausting really fast! 🫣

So, for example, I could never keep up with such an insane posting schedule even if I wanted to! I have a family lifestyle that I want to enjoy, a daughter for whom I want to be present and, quite frankly, that’s NOT why I decided to run my business in the first place 🤷🏼‍♀️!

So, please, please always take any advice on the Internet with a pinch of salt. It might be that somebody has “reached 10k followers in 2 weeks” because that’s literally all they’ve done for 14 days. That was their main focus.

Ask yourself, “would this be sustainable in the long run for me? Is this aligned with my own terms & conditions of running a business?”
If not, scroll over with no remorse 😎🙌🏻

Send help 🥴! Seriously now, it has happened qu Send help 🥴!
Seriously now, it has happened quite recently with a client of mine on social media management: literally spent hours on a Reel, beautiful, SEO-oriented caption, stunning cover, only to flop at around 2k views.
Published another one that wasn’t even meant to be a Reel and boom! 10k in less than 30 hours 😂

Yes or yes? 😂 Honestly now, can we talk more o Yes or yes? 😂

Honestly now, can we talk more openly about this REAL part of building a business? About the fact that oftentimes success smells like freshly baked bread or noodles soup?

I signed a new contract yesterday, had a Discovery Call, finished a content strategy for a new client, and when I was done for the day, I went to Asda to buy chicken thighs for dinner 😅
When I got home, a huge pile of freshly dried up clothes was waiting as well, so not at all romantic. But necessary and real, right? 🥴

Want to start posting regularly again but don’t Want to start posting regularly again but don’t know where to start? 😋
I was thinking about it the other day.. after taking a break for so long from strategically creating content, I felt soooo out of shape 🤪

And usually I’d feel the pressure to follow what everybody else is doing, BUT if there’s anything I learned over the last 12 months is that nobody knows my rhythm better than me!
So I put on my blinders and got into what I knew would work for me 😎

I shared my step-by-step process, hopefully it’s gonna shed some light on your own “recovery” 😅

I am the content & social media expert who took a I am the content & social media expert who took a break from social media. I felt I had nothing else to give.
Yes, I, the one who always took pride in showing entrepreneurs that Social Media is a playground, a dance floor, a joy, got tired.
And, ironically, the fatigue did not come from my business, but from a major change that I went through with my family, a change that we planned in detail for almost one full year, one that claimed a good part of my resources .

I’ve been in burnout since July, but I refused to believe it. I told myself it’s too mainstream, that it’s a word we use too often, and that it should definitely look darker than my shades of gray. That there’s no way it could happen to me, the bubbly one, the one always with a smile on her face, the eternal positive, the one everybody else relied on.
But when the time came, I could not rely on me, so I fell.

That’s how I realized that I’m not ok, that I’m on the downside.
And I withdrew, unfortunately.

Not because I didn’t like creating content anymore, not because I didn’t love my community anymore, quite the opposite actually. Because I felt it was disrespectful to display myself in front of everyone with zero resources, squeezing the last bit of life force I had left. I would have been exactly the example I wouldn’t want you to follow in a thousand years!

So I took a break. No expectations, no counting the days, no FOMO.

Next week I’ll tell you all about what else happened and the foundational steps I took so that my business continued to generate income and my clients were still tended to.
Because even though I’ve been gone, my world hasn’t stopped.

So, yes, there are days that won’t look that sparkly.
Don’t spread yourself too thin!
You got your business, but does your business got you? 🤗

When "just enough" is not enough. In content mark When "just enough" is not enough.

In content marketing, there is this idea of creating just enough content to get things started from the ground up.

Like populating a website with cornerstone content or creating 6-10 posts for an Instagram account just to get those wheels in motion. What happens more often than not, is that we keep wearing this principle as a cosy coat on a long, cold winter night long after the snow has stopped.

Our business grows, but our content is stuck in this "just enough" bubble. The result?

- We fail to deliver value-based content,

- We are afraid to make a clear call to action and sell our services,

- We go all-in on a single social media platform and we are blind to other growth opportunities, even when they're so obvious (like email marketing, for example),

- We provide mediocre services and we start acting like a "best-kept-secret",

- And we can even become resentful towards our business and the act of creating content for our audience.

After 7 years of running my own business (two of them, actually!), it's time to say it aloud: no, it's not enough to just post 5 times/week and then disappear!

No, it's not enough to scratch the surface with your messaging and then complain that you've given so much with nothing in return!

No, it's not enough to show your face from time to time and "hang around" (ah, the sound of it! 🤢) on Social Media, hoping that maybe, just maybe, something will land!

This "just enough" mentality is breaking the bridge of trust you're trying to build with your potential clients, and creating a gap of nothingness instead.

So, no, I'm sorry, but "just enough" won't do.

Different, extraordinary, remarkable, memorable, heart-warming will.

If you want to break through all the online noise, these WILL do.
